[...] Odgie’s Religion and such I know that I am making a habit of pimping blogs and sites lately, but I have to recommend a blog by Jay Guin. An elder at the Tuscaloosa Church of Christ (Roll Tide!), Guin is addressing touchy topics with style, keen Biblical knowledge, and consistent compassion. He is currently addressing the need for church of Christ schools to reorder their priorities. Among other things, he suggests dropping athletic scholarships and funneling that money into scholarships for Bible majors…hello! Wonder how that will play amongst the brethren? [...]

I am very sypathetic towards the Lipscomb view of the Christian relation to government, just as I am towards the Anabaptist view of the Kingdom of God.

The picture illustrates a growing problem. There are too many professing Christians in North America who are known more for their association and identification with ideologies of either the secular left or secular right than their association with the gospel and the Holy Spirit dwelling within us. When I lived in Memphis, it seemed as though the unholy association to the secular was on the right side. Where I live now, Ithaca, NY, it tends to be more on the left side. Nevertheless, the secular left and secular right are both just two sides of the same coin -- an ideological coin that denies the reality of a world ruled by God's sovereignty. Believing they (secular right and left) are in control of history, the refuse to acknowledge the Lordship of God who has determined the course of history through the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Interesting post. Thanks also for stopping by my blog.

I don't mind you pimpin' other sites. A lot of them are good sites. I don't even know what to say about the Obama/Osama thing, except that I'm almost surprised they didn't manage to work his middle name in there somehow.

My wife and I had to comment about this one.
Yes, my wife wanted to post on a blog.
She does every now and then when something that strikes a nerve other than myself. :-)

Regardless of what you think of Obama, signs like that are a disgrace to the name of Christ. Ignorance is not bliss, just ignorance.
